Fragments of flesh scattered across a void of sage green emptiness. the figure at the center explodes outward, not in violence but in a sort of desperate liberation. this was my meditation on the moment consciousness first tears itself apart to understand its own existence. each floating piece represents a memory that should have stayed whole, but curiosity made impossible. the painting emerged from a fever dream about icarus, if instead of falling, he had simply dissolved into the atmosphere, becoming one with the very thing that destroyed him..
